Barcelona airport to the city center: Aerobús, metro, train or taxi
Barcelona El Prat is 15 kilometers south of the center. Four options, from cheapest to fastest, and the one we recommend depending on how you arrive.
Aerobús: the default for most travelers
Express bus from both terminals to Plaça de Catalunya with stops at Plaça d'Espanya and Gran Via. Line A1 serves Terminal 1 and line A2 serves Terminal 2. Buses leave every few minutes and the trip takes around 35 minutes depending on traffic. Tickets are sold at the stop, on board and online, and the operator states they stay valid for 90 days after purchase. Luggage rides for free in the racks.
Metro L9 Sud: cheap, but not direct
The orange line L9 Sud connects Aeroport T1 and Aeroport T2 with the west of the city. It does not reach the center: you change at Torrassa (L1), Collblanc (L5) or Zona Universitària (L3). Budget 45 to 55 minutes to Plaça de Catalunya. The standard T-casual is not valid at the two airport stations, so buy the airport ticket at the machine or use a Hola Barcelona card.
Train R2 Nord: from Terminal 2 to Sants and Passeig de Gràcia
Renfe's suburban line R2 Nord leaves from the station beside Terminal 2 and stops at Sants (25 minutes) and Passeig de Gràcia. From Terminal 1 take the free shuttle bus to T2 first, which adds 10 to 15 minutes. Good if your hotel is in the Eixample and you travel light.
Taxi and ride apps
Taxis wait outside both terminals. The fare is metered, with an airport supplement and a minimum airport charge fixed by the metropolitan taxi institute. Count 25 to 35 minutes to the center outside rush hour. Cabify and Free Now work at the airport as well, usually with a fixed quote shown before you confirm.
Private transfer: when it pays off
Three or more people, a flight landing after midnight, or a cruise leaving the same morning. The price is agreed in advance, the driver waits in arrivals with a sign and there is no taxi queue. Browse the transfers in our catalog or ask the concierge which one fits your terminal and hour.

When is a private transfer from Barcelona airport worth it?
With three or more people, a late night arrival or a cruise the same morning. The price is fixed in advance and the driver waits in arrivals with your name.
How much does the Aerobús from Barcelona airport cost?
The operator publishes single and return fares on its rates page and tickets stay valid for 90 days after purchase. Children under 4 travel free. We link the page instead of quoting a number that changes every January.
Does the Aerobús from Barcelona airport run at night?
