Best 10 hotels in Barcelona 2026, ranked by real reviews
Barcelona has more than 800 hotels and the difference between a good stay and a bad one is mostly the neighborhood. This list ranks the ten with the strongest track record in real reviews, from a five star on the beach to a well run three star two minutes from Plaça de Catalunya.
Quick answer
The best rated hotel in Barcelona with a large sample is Hotel Condes de Barcelona on Passeig de Gràcia: 4.7 out of 5 across 7,211 Google reviews, four stars, opposite Casa Batlló. The most reviewed is W Barcelona on the Barceloneta seafront, 4.4 across 18,960 reviews. For value near everything, Hotel Jazz keeps 4.7 with 2,376 reviews a block from Plaça de Catalunya.
TL;DR
- Ten hotels, all 4.4 or above on Google with at least 2,000 reviews each, checked on 17 September 2026.
- Seven are on or beside Passeig de Gràcia and the Ramblas: the area to stay for a first visit.
- Two are on the seafront (W and Hotel Arts): beach at the door, 20 minutes on foot to the old town.
- Prices change with the date: expect the highest rates in May, June, September and during Mobile World Congress in early March.
- Barcelona adds a tourist tax per person and night, paid at the hotel, on top of the room rate.
How we ranked this list
We started from the 60 hotels Google Maps returns for the best hotels in Barcelona, kept only those with at least 2,000 reviews so a handful of opinions could not move the average, and ranked them by rating weighted by the number of reviews. We removed hostels, airport hotels and anything outside the city. We have no commercial relationship with any hotel on this list and no affiliate links: we recommend, you book wherever you like.
The 10 hotels, in order
1. Hotel Condes de Barcelona
Two modernist buildings on Passeig de Gràcia, across the street from Casa Batlló, with a rooftop pool that looks at La Pedrera. The highest rated hotel on this list with a large sample, and the one we would pick for a first visit.
2. W Barcelona
The sail shaped tower at the far end of Barceloneta beach: sea views from most rooms, a bar on the 26th floor and the sand at the door. It is 20 minutes on foot to El Born, which is the trade off.
3. Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona
A grand hotel open since 1918 on Passeig de Gràcia, with a spa and a rooftop terrace where the Sagrada Família sits in the middle of the view. Classic service, the kind where the doorman remembers your name on day two.
4. Hotel Catalonia Ramblas
On Carrer de Pelai between Plaça de Catalunya and Plaça Universitat, with an inner garden and pool that you would never guess from the street. Big breakfast, quiet inner rooms, everything within ten minutes on foot.
5. Hotel Arts Barcelona
A 44 floor tower on the beach at Port Olímpic, next to Frank Gehry's bronze fish, with an outdoor pool at sea level and the Enoteca restaurant downstairs. The best choice if the beach is the point of your trip.
6. Hotel NH Collection Barcelona Gran Hotel Calderón
On Rambla de Catalunya, the quieter, tree lined sister of Passeig de Gràcia, with a rooftop pool and one of the most praised breakfasts in the reviews. Four metro lines within three minutes.
7. Hotel 1898
The former headquarters of the Philippines Tobacco Company on La Rambla, with a rooftop pool over the old town and colonial style rooms. Ask for an interior room: the ones on the Rambla hear the street until late.
8. BLESS Barcelona
On Plaça de Catalunya itself, the newest five star on this list, with a rooftop pool over the square and the metro, the Aerobús stop and the Ramblas at the door. The highest rating of the five stars here, with 2,894 reviews.
9. Grand Hyatt Barcelona
Uptown at the end of the Diagonal, with gardens, pools and space you will not find in the center, and Camp Nou ten minutes on foot. Twenty minutes by metro to Plaça de Catalunya: better for families and events than for a first visit on foot.
10. Hotel Jazz
A three star on Carrer de Pelai, one block from Plaça de Catalunya, with a rooftop pool and a 4.7 that most four stars would sign for. The value pick of the list: location of a five star, price of a three.
Before you book
- Rates on the hotel's own site are often equal to or lower than on booking platforms, and cancellation terms are clearer. Compare both.
- Ask for an inner facing room in the old town and on the Ramblas: the street noise runs until 3 in the morning on weekends.
- Check in is usually from 15:00 and check out by 12:00. Most hotels keep luggage for free on both days.
- The tourist tax is charged per person and night at the hotel and is not included in most online prices.
- Rooftop pools are the rule in this list, and they close from October to April in most hotels.
